Food Safety & Process Quality

Independently audited and certified to international food safety standards. Every spice we ship reflects a system designed, documented, and continuously improved by the people who run our plant in Sri Lanka.

Our Certification Journey

Pursuing formal certification was a deliberate choice. As Four Spices grew from a family business into a supplier serving export buyers, we wanted our processes — not just our products — to stand up to scrutiny. Internationally recognized certifications gave us a structured way to do that.

The audit process was thorough. https://ceycert.com/, our accredited certification body, examined our facility in New Town, Kolonna over 2 days in 2025/Nov and 2026/Jan. Auditors walked the floor with us, traced batches end-to-end, reviewed our documentation, and interviewed staff at every level. They looked at hazard analysis, sanitation, supplier controls, training records, traceability, and recall procedures.

The auditor feedback was encouraging. Nethmi(Lead auditor) noted that our written procedures and the day-to-day practice on the floor were well aligned — a sign that the system isn’t just on paper. The report highlighted our traceability records and our cleaning schedules as areas of particular strength, with a small number of observations we used to sharpen the system further.

What we’re proudest of is how the team adopted the new way of working. Process changes only stick when the people doing the work believe in them. Through structured training and daily floor walks, our employees made the standards their own. Today, food safety isn’t something we add on top of production — it’s how we work.
